The History of Tarot. ♥️♣️🃏♠️♦️
The Tarot is a divination system that was originally used as a playing card game in the 14th and 15th century in Italy, called Trionfi and later called Tarocchi. The oldest known deck to still be in existence, was created for the Duke of Milan’s family around 1440.
Eventually, in the 18th Century, Trionfi or Tarocchi evolved into the esoteric tool and divination system, now known as The Tarot.
My favorite Tarot system is the Rider Waite Smith (RWS) system.
A.E. Waite was an author and scholar of mysticism, the occult and esoteric practices. He commissioned artist Pamela Coleman Smith, aka Pixie, to sketch the images of the 78 card deck and it was published by the Rider publishing company in 1909. Since then there have been hundreds of beautiful decks created based on the RWS system.
The Tarot is both a divination system and analytical tool used to offer clarity and guidance while shedding a light on current situations and untangling confusion surrounding the topics we discuss. It acts as a reflection of the energy surrounding the individual who is receiving a reading. There is a lot of symbolism, numerology and astrology incorporated through out the tarot system which helps deliver a very nuanced reading, and it’s quite fascinating.
I always incorporate the Tarot in my sessions to help guide the conversation between myself and my clients and open up an intuitive dialogue, which offers clarity and soulful guidance.
I’m always amazed by the positive results that it provides and it’s a privilege to include it as one of many modalities in my practice.
